Destination: Nepal

Information

Birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha, landlocked Nepal provides a dramatic cultural and geographical link between the Indian and the Tibetan worlds, evoking images of red soil and green terraced plantations, set against a backdrop of the world's highest perennial snow peaks - Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Goshainathan, Gauri Shangkar, Jowo Oyuk, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kangchendzonga.

Trans Himalaya's travel programme in Nepal features the core itineraries recommended and detailed in the Kathmandu section of Gyurme Dorje's Tibet Handbook (Footprint Handbooks, first edition 1996, second edition, 1999, third edition, 2004, fourth edition 2009) and in Tom Woodhatch's Nepal Handbook (Footprint Handbooks, first edition 1997, second edition, 2000). These include the jungle lodges of the subtropical Terai region, the medieval cities of the Kathmandu valley, the trekking routes of Annapurna, Langtang, Jumla, and Solo-Khumbu, and the Himalayan enclaves Dolpo and Mustang, which are actually located on the Tibetan plateau. We also specialise in customised expeditions and tours, which can be organised anywhere in Nepal to suit individual requirements.
